Training and Personal Development Celtic Recycling operates a policy of maintaining vocational skills in-house and invests in a wide range of both internal and external training. The company has a proven commitment to training and development for all our staff, independently recognised and verified by our Investors in People accreditation. Personal development is very much part and parcel of the company culture and all Celtic employees receive the full support of the organisation to pursue vocational training courses which the company and the individual considers will assist in developing their chosen areas of speciality and key skills. We constantly assess and refresh our skills requirements to ensure that Celtic Recycling has the necessary expertise and capabilities within the company to safely tackle even the most difficult recovery work. The company currently provides more than ninety external training disciplines to employees, subject to their role within the organisation, and client-accredited training is an essential element in personal development. The company also provides in-house training in a broad range of essential skills, based upon our accumulated experience and knowledge of industry requirements. This combination of external, in-house and client-accredited training ensures Celtic personnel are fully prepared for site working prior to entry into a substation environment. When new employees are eventually included in a working party, it is always with a highly-experienced team where they learn the practicalities that are needed to augment their previous, predominantly classroom-based training. This gradual development of skills and experience is one of the reasons that Celtic Recycling has such a commendable record in Health and Safety. Another major factor is that the unwavering commitment to training and development of personnel pervades every level within the organisation. All directors of the company hold NEBOSH General Certificates in Health and Safety, together with many other personal accreditations and this clearly demonstrates the importance the company attaches to personnel obtaining the necessary knowledge to effectively undertake his or her role within the company. Formal monitoring procedures are in place to assess safe working practices, both in-house and on-site, with the emphasis firmly focussed on continuous development. We operate a ‘no-blame’ culture which ensures an open forum for discussion and debate on relevant Health, Safety and Environmental issues. The ultimate goal is to ensure everyone works in a safe and responsible manner.
