LATEST NEWS Congratulations are in order for Ardsley Athlectico under-13's, Glyn Neath under-10's (rugby), and Glyn Neath Town under-10's (football). Ardsley Athlectico Boys U13's (football) What a fantastic season the under 13's have just had - the story starts here.
Glynneath Juniors AFC (under 10's) With season coming to a close for another year, it is time to reflect on what a mixed season it has been for these up and coming superstars. The season started well with wins against some of the stronger teams in the league. Then the mid season blues struck, probably because of the adverse weather conditions affecting fixtures and a resulting drop in confidence and match practice. However the lads never gave in and started to string together some excellent results against teams they never thought they could beat. Consequently the coaches entered the team into two end of seasons competitions where the lads proved themselves by being runners up at the Sunnybank tournament and semi finalists in the Briton Ferry tournament.
Glynneath Juniors RFC (under 10's) The under 10’s rugby team are rapidly becoming a team others dread playing. The coaches have amassed a team that play a style of rugby professionals would struggle to match. The natural ability, speed and skill the lads possess has made them one of the best teams in South Wales. This season again, has been very successful with wins over every team they have played. They entered the Afon Nedd tournament as holders of the trophy but were edged out at the semi final stage by arch rivals Ystradgynlais. However they did not give in and went on to win the Plate competition in style. What makes these two teams special is in fact they are one team who play two sports. So to achieve so much in both disciplines is unique and testament to their commitment to sport and competition. Both teams have had a very successful season, culminating in these well earned trophies. This sums up what Football and Rugby is all about at this age – playing and enjoying. Well done boys! You are a credit your clubs and your community. Celtic Recycling is proud to sponsor both teams and wish them continuing success for the future. Praise must also go to the team managers, referees and parents who turn out week in and week out to encourage and enable the boys to enjoy their respective sports.
